JA SOLAR

SUSTAINABILITY

The demand for sustainable energy sources has increased significantly in recent years.
With our philosophy “Green to Green, Green to Grow, Green to Great”, we support the goal of CO2-free energy generation. This is where our new DeepBlue 4.0 Pro module series makes an important contribution. We attach great importance to fair and environmentally friendly production conditions. We are working with our partners to establish a green supply chain. We also support sustainable initiatives such as the Global Sustainable Markets Initiative and the Zero Carbon Development Initiative of the UN Climate Change Conference.

ECOVADIS SUSTAINABILITY AWARDS

JA SOLAR was again awarded the silver medal in the EcoVadis Sustainability Rating in 2023. This outstanding result is the outcome of our long-standing commitment to environmental protection, labour law and the sustainable procurement of resources.

Corporate social responsibility reports

Excerpt from the sustainability and ESG report 2022

“JA SOLAR’s strategic goal is innovative, environmentally friendly and low-carbon production. This means that we are already a driving force behind sustainable development in the industry. As a Chinese company, we are not only contributing to CO2 neutrality in China but also driving forward the reduction of CO2 emissions worldwide.” (cf. Transl.)

PRINCIPLES OF OUR CORPORATE GOVERNANCE

For JA SOLAR, sustainable corporate development is the result of equally sustainable corporate management. In order to protect the interests of our investors, business partners and customers, we continuously optimise our entire corporate governance system. This includes various internal control mechanisms to ensure compliance with business ethics. This will ensure stable and efficient business operations in the future.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

Since our founding, we have been working to continuously reduce our consumption of energy and resources. Our environmental concepts cover all key areas of the company, such as research and development, production, packaging and transport. We are working on making more and more parts of our value chain low-carbon and sustainable. This also includes product recycling, for which we are developing sustainable long-term solutions together with organisations such as PV CYCLE. We want to create an intelligent and environmentally friendly development model to transform our company into an “intelligent manufacturing powerhouse”.

RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

For JA SOLAR, sustainability goes hand-in-hand with technological innovation. This is why we continuously invest in research and development (R&D). As one of the first suppliers with large-scale industrial PV production, we set new standards early on. Today, we are proud that our patented TOPCon technology achieves one of the highest levels of conversion efficiency in the world. We want to continue along this path and drive forward the development of state-of-the-art solar products.

NON-PROFIT STATUS

We have set ourselves the goal of making clean solar energy accessible to as many people as possible and thus contributing to global prosperity. We therefore support charitable projects on a large scale and work hard to fulfil our social responsibility.

BALCONY POWER STATIONS.
AN EXAMPLE OF OUR SOCIAL COMMITMENT

It is not only large infrastructure projects that contribute to the energy transition. Smaller initiatives such as the balcony power plant workshop we sponsored in Bötzingen, Baden-Württemberg, also make an important contribution. In addition to presentations on the potential of solar energy, interested citizens were able to obtain comprehensive information on the technical and legal basis of balcony power plants. Under expert guidance, the participants assembled their own compact JA SOLAR PV systems, which they were able to take home with them. Such practical workshops show that every individual can play their part in the energy transition.

30MW

The 5.5-hectare agrivoltaic plant in Bruck an der Leitha, Austria, uses “sun catchers” to maximise energy yield and optimise grid stability. The system consists of movable PV modules that track the sun and thus optimise electricity production. At the same time, the use of space is minimised.

Metro has commissioned one of the largest photovoltaic roof systems in Germany to date at the Marl logistics centre in North Rhine-Westphalia. Not only does it produce enough solar power for its own needs, it also feeds surpluses into the local power grid.

With the Tuquan Xinsheng project, we have created a green PV oasis in the Chinese Gobi Desert that generates clean energy, combats desertification and saves around 300,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions every year.
